Suicide has always been one of the top leading causes of death in the world, health authorities say. It has even reached the top 20 causes of death for all ages among countries. The number of people who kill themselves every year has reached a million, according to World Health Organization (WHO). The manager of the Wales national team, Gary Speed is no stranger to it; he ended his life at age of 42. He was known as a great midfielder. He was someone who had it good and was not thought to be depressed, he may not even have filed a Zoloft lawsuit.
His death has elicited sighs of disbelief, not only from fans but also from close friends and family. Taking his own life was totally out of character for him. He left a widow and two teenage sons to face questions about his death. Most fans were at a loss. The life that Speed had led was a truly remarkable one. Issues with depression has never been present in his life, says Hayden Evans, his talent agent and close friend. It was around seven in the morning when Louise, wife of Speed, found her husband dangling in their garage. The reason behind the hanging of Speed was not shared to the public. The last show on which he was last seen in was in BBC1 Football Focus, which was taped just hours before he killed himself. The presenter on BBC1, Dan Walker, shared the information that Speed was nothing but that Wales played under him made them won four to one which affirmed his managerial skills.
The outpouring of tributes for Gary Speed has been increasing since his untimely death. Outside the house of Speed and the places where he used to play, tributes from mourning fans filled up space and piled up. They brought flowers, jerseys, scarves and other memorabilia that they have of the footballer. They were also asking the press to stop sensationalizing his death as a gesture of respect to his family.
