			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People involved in sports, in particular basketball,  football, volleyball, and soccer, are frequently interested in finding a way to increase their vertical jump. There are many exercises and programs existing that are specifically intended for improving a person&#8217;s vertical leap. Before proceeding with any of these programs though, a person should at least be in fair general physical shape. Here we go over a few exercises that someone could start with before undertaking a training program. These will help get you started.</p>
<p> Warm Ups<br /> Prior to beginning the exercises, you need to warm your muscles up. Try jogging around for ten minutes or run up and down the stairs for a while. It is also a good idea to stretch your muscles prior to exercising. Warming up prior to exercising helps you develop muscle fibers that are utilized during the jumping process.</p>
<p> Skipping Rope<br /> Jumping rope is an exercise that is often overlooked, and shouldn&#8217;t be, as it will contribute to improving the strength of your legs. It also promotes maintaining excellent cardiovascular condition. Perform this exercise for 15 to 30 minutes on a regular basis.</p>
<p> Knee Raises<br /> Hold an overhead bar securely, with your arms straight overhead. Hang from the overhead bar, with your arms fully extended and knees slightly bent. Hold this position and slowly pull your knees towards your chest. Squeeze your stomach muscles while doing this. Maintain this position for several seconds, before lowering your legs towards the floor. Repeat the process five times.</p>
<p> Knee Bends<br /> One of the top ways to increase the strength of your legs is with knee bends (also know as squats). Stand upright &#8211; straight, with chest out and keeping your back tight. Now, bend your knees slowly, keeping the back straight. Squat, in a slow action, to the maximum possible extent. Repeat this exercise 20 times.</p>
<p> Toe Touches<br /> Stand upright. Bend from the waist while keeping your legs straight. Lower yourself down as far as you can go and try to touch your toes with your fingers. Maintain this position for a few seconds. Do this exercise slowly and do not &#8220;bounce&#8221; while trying to touch your toes. Repeat this thirty times.</p>
<p> Sit-Ups<br /> Sit-ups can help improve your vertical leap. Begin this exercise laying with your back against the floor, with your knees bent, and your feet flat on the floor. Place you hands behind your head. Now, curl the shoulders off the floor, in a slow motion. Continue to bring your body to an upright position. Try to not &#8220;pull&#8221; on the back of your head with your hands. Focus on your stomach doing the work. Exercises for your midsection are crucial for all physical activity as it is the &#8220;core&#8221; area of your body. Repeat this exercise 10-20 times.</p>

<p> Correct training to increase your vertical jump is very COUNTER INTUITIVE.</p>
<p> Vertical jumping is an explosive act caused by the sudden contraction of fast twitch muscles.  Because of this, vertical jump training should be &#8220;anaerobic.&#8221;  All too often athletes are training in a way that trains] mostly their &#8220;aerobic&#8221; [ability.</p>
<p> How is training different for the two?</p>
<p> Basketball players have been told that running cross country would increase their vertical. This is huge misconception. Running long distances like that can make your vertical leap to shrink.</p>
<p> Sprinting, like jumping is a more anerobic exercise.  Do you see [a sprinter distance running to train for sprinting? NEVER! Then why so often do vertical leap programs have us PACING ourselves during our vertical jump training regimes?</p>
<p> NEVER NEVER NEVER PACE YOURSELF [WHILE!</p>
<p> Maybe you have also seen these before. Athletes "running the stairs" or dog tired from doing speed ladder drills. Or maybe get done jumping rope for 20 minutes and you are worn out.. you are going to say to yourself, "Now that was a hard workout, surely that will increase my vertical."</p>
<p> These are not examples of training explosively, so they are NOT going to be able to improve explosive actions. I assure you, they will be disappointed. You must train explosively and not endurance to increase your vertical jump.</p>
<p> "Explosive" training will feel awkward at first.  You won't get the same burn as training for endurance.  In a few ways training explosion is easier, it just requires much more focus and short term effort.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Are you looking for some basic exercises to <a target="_blank" href="http://verticaljump.einfohound.com">increase your vertical jump</a>? Since there are many, we&#8217;ll help you narrow the list a little. There are a few in particular that can improve your capacity to jump higher. You need to ensure that you follow them exactly. You can perform the correct exercises, but if you don&#8217;t do them correctly, you won&#8217;t get the results you wish for. Add these three exercises to your vertical training and you will be well on your way to adding major inches to your vertical.</p>
<p> A lot of people wrongly believe that it is only the leg muscles that need to be developed to improve your vertical jump. The muscles in the back and waist are also exceptionally significant. The erector muscles are the strongest muscles in the back and take on the most work. Your program should include exercises for the back and waist areas as well. Which brings us to our initial exercise.</p>
<p> Dead Lifts</p>
<p> Dead lifts are great. Remembering to try to keep you back as upright as possible, bend your knees and reach down and grab the barbell. Bring the barbell up until you are standing upright with the barbell hanging across your thighs. Slowly lower the weight back down. Execute three sets of 6-8 repetitions. To steer clear of injury, do not yank the bar, but perform the exercise quickly and steadily. Take a rest. Then do the next set, but this time take your time and feel the full range of your muscles.</p>
<p> Leg Presses</p>
<p> A subsequent exercise that can help improve your vertical leap is leg presses. Set the weight on the machine to a weight suitable for you. Spread your feet apart. Lower the weight until your thighs nearly touch your chest. Then shove the weight back up in an explosive manner. It&#8217;s not about the slow and steady here. Your muscles perform explosively when you are jumping, so you have to train them that way in your exercises as well. Do 5 sets of 6 reps. Take a short pause between each set.</p>
<p> Medicine Ball</p>
<p> For our last exercise we will utilize a medicine ball instead of a basketball. Acting as if you are trying to dunk the ball, leap with the medicine ball toward the rim. Exaggerate the actions and reach for the rim. Doing this exercise will enhance all the muscles that you will use when you in reality are able to dunk. Doing this exercise as hard as you can will have a big impact on your vertical leap.</p>
<p> While these are simply three exercises, they can be a good start to <a target="_blank" href="http://verticaljump.einfohound.com/vertical-jump-program-reviews/how-to-jump-higher-fast/">increasing your vertical jump</a>. As you move forward, insert more exercises to your routine. Make sure you do them correctly, though.</p>
